    The Las Cruces Police Department said they need more officers to fight crime, but over the past couple years, applications have been lacking. LCPD Lieutenant Jeremy Story told KFOX14 the department is 60 officers short of being fully staffed. This does not include the upcoming officers who are getting ready to retire.

A spokeswoman for the Detroit Board of Police Commissioners confirmed that an individual named Abderrazak Boukhatmi was denied entry into the Detroit Police Academy in 2015.

    A man died in El Paso police custody Monday after a taser was used on him as he was resisting arrest. According to police, witnesses reported seeing the man attempting to break into the Lunch Box in the 3600 block of Buckner around 5:40 p.m. Monday. A responding officer commanded the man to stop, but he forced the door of the business open and ran inside, police said.

    An El Paso police officer has been arrested after he shot a man outside the "Tap Bar" in downtown El Paso. The officer arrested was identified on Friday as 34-year-old Anthony Greer. Crime Against Persons detectives and the Texas Rangers determined that the victim did not present a serious threat of injury or death to the officer.

    Man charged with deadly crash that killed an El Paso PD sergeant

Richard Allbee died in a head-on collision at the hands of a man who detectives said was impaired.      They were heading to Mesa from El Paso to visit Allbee's parents.      Allbee's wife was a passenger. She survived the crash. It happened in Bylus, Ariz.
